MDBF Webinarları – Dr. Işık Biçer

Zoom

Mühendislik ve Doğa Bilimleri Fakültemizin düzenlediği webinar serisi kapsamında 29 Nisan Cuma saat 14.00’te Schulich School of Business’tan Dr. Işık Biçer“Supply Chain Analytics: An Uncertainty Modeling Approach” başlıklı bir sunum yapacak.

Zoom üzerinden gerçekleşecek etkinlik ilgilenen herkesin katılımına açıktır.

Özet: There are three aspects of business transactions such that companies exchange (1) information, (2) capital, and (3) goods or services in a business transaction. Although supply chain management is at the center of the transactions, a complete framework of supply chain management is only possible by incorporating the effects of information and capital flows on the supply chains. The uncertainty modeling approach aims to develop the correct model by incorporating the uncertain elements of demand without rushing to aggregate demand values and fitting a statistical model for it. We have applied this approach to some companies in different industries and observed a substantial improvement in profits. Results are reported in Harvard Business Review in 2022.

Konuşmacı Hakkında: Isik is an Assistant Professor of Operations Management and Information Systems. Prior to joining the Schulich School of Business, he was a faculty member at the Rotterdam School of Management of Erasmus University in the Netherlands. He holds a PhD degree in Operations Management from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

Isik’s research focuses on supply chain analytics and supply chain finance. He uses methods from quantitative finance, optimization theory, statistics, and stochastic modeling to develop supply chain models that aim to reduce the mismatches between supply and demand. He also carries out research to improve the financial sustainability of companies by focusing on the effective deployment of supply chain finance tools. His research appeared in the top operations management journals, such as Production and Operations Management and Journal of Operations Management, and some practitioner outlets such as Harvard Business Review and Forbes. The analytical tools developed as the outcome of his research have been implemented in companies in the pharmaceutical, automotive, consumer packaged goods, and agriculture industries
