Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Webinars – Dr. Baran Alikoç

Zoom

Dr. Baran Alikoç from Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) will be the guest of KHAS Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences webinar series with his speech “Analyzing and Utilizing Time-delays in Systems” on Thursday, February 3 at 17.30.

The event will take place on Zoom and is open to anyone interested.

Abstract: Time-delay phenomena frequently arise up to inherent dynamics of natural and industrial systems, for instance, as communication delays in data transfer, reaction delays in human interacting systems, or transport delays in fluid dynamics. The delays may cause problems to be handled in systems or provide benefits for systems control. In this talk, I will explain my research in the analysis and control of single and multi-agent time-delay systems and the utilization of delays for control of systems. The relevant applications of the presented techniques, such as vehicular platoons, multi-robot control, and vibration suppression in mechatronic systems, will be considered.

About the Speaker: Dr. Baran Alikoç has completed his BSc, MSc, and PhD degree in Control and Automation Engineering at İstanbul Technical University. He worked as a research assistant at Istanbul Technical University between 2011 and 2017. During his PhD studies in 2015-2016, he researched in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) for a year funded by TUBITAK international research fellowship program. He has been working as a postdoctoral researcher in the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics, an institute of CTU, since 2017. His main research field is analyzing and controlling time-delayed systems and vibration suppression techniques for flexible structures. He has also been working on optimal control methods, control of multi-agent systems, robot modeling, and control. He participated in various research projects on the mentioned topics.
